Planning medical device integration in your hospital

Device integration starts with a precise understanding of the equipment and the receiving clinical workflow. A device name alone does not establish compatibility.

Identify the exact device and interface

Document the model, software version, available export format and interface. Ask the vendor about access requirements and the conditions for using the interface.

Plan patient matching

Define how device results will be associated with the correct patient and encounter. Teams need a way to review mismatches and unexpected results before those results enter the clinical record.

Test the complete journey

Evaluate result capture, units, timestamps, clinician review, failure handling and auditability. Confirm how staff continue working when the connection is unavailable.

Be clear about integration status
